Our Terroir

Our terroir

Clinet, our ‘steep hills’

The grape varieties are planted in plots corresponding to the exposure of each hill.

The rows of vines are planted from north to south on hills that stretch from east to west. The name ‘Clinet’ derives from the old Gascon language, meaning ‘steep hills’; this name suits the estate perfectly.

The vineyards planted on sandy clay have been partially drained, and the water is directed towards the pond.

Production is limited to 50 hectoliters per hectare, but most often below 48 hectoliters per hectare. This limit is achieved through severe pruning in winter and green harvesting during the summer.

The vines are trained in double Guyot, with the removal of lateral buds. Weed management follows a natural farming method adapted to each plot.

Cultivation Method

Respectful and patient…

Our property is fully committed to a nature-friendly approach. We have chosen not to use herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or synthetic products in our production process.

For harvesting, we opt for mechanical methods, using a grape harvester equipped with a sorting system, as well as an automatic sorting table before transferring the grapes into our tanks. Furthermore, we prioritize the use of natural yeasts during the fermentation process.

Vinification takes place under controlled conditions, with a temperature maintained between 22 and 28°C at most. This is followed by a maceration of approximately 15 days to 3 weeks before undergoing malolactic fermentation.

Our wines are carefully aged, some in barrels and others in tanks, to best preserve their fruity aromas. After aging for 2 years, our wines are bottled and precisely labeled before being ready for shipment.

Hands in the Soil

Composition of Our Soils

The soil is highly diversified, consisting of two distinct parts:

  • One part is sandy clay, forming a light layer above clayey gravel mixed with traces of iron slag deposits (similar to Pomerol).
  • For the other part, it is gravel (this district was once called Graves de Côtes).

Our Approach

Living at the Heart of the Estate
